Removal and installation of HHR door Handles is a breeze. This is a job that should take you no more than 10 minutes of your time, per set of door handles. Tools you need include a T25 Torx Bit Screwdriver. I have heard that some people needed pliers in order to complete the removal of the screws on the door handles, and some may not. I guess it depends on how handy you are with the screwdriver (too simple!).
Do not bother removing your interior panels to complete this. Theres an access hole under a red reflector sticker on the drivers door, and a black plug access hole on the passenger door. Remove those, Then find the screw in the hole, and use the torx bit to remove the screw. Make sure not to drop the screw in the frame of the door! Use a magnetic tipped torx bit if you have one. One you have loosened or removed the screw, you should be able to pull off the small piece of the handle, and then pull off the larger piece of door handle. The larger piece is removed by keeping the handle flush with the body, then sliding it towards the back of the HHR, and then pulling it out.
Installation is in reverse, so start with the large hhr door handle piece, then install the smaller piece, tighten the screw, and re-plug the holes. Just like that, you have changed your HHR Door Handles. You can change them to body-coloured door handles, or take your body coloured door handles and swap them with hhr chrome door handles.
